The dark opening arc is no misnomer—the middle and closing acts drop to nearly identical sub-0.4 brightness levels, a visual surrender that mirrors the samurai's obsolescence in a world of steam and steel. Gonzo's palette of #5D5E5B, #A3A29C, and #946A58 reads less like the saturated reds of a Kurosawa battle than the rusted, dusted hues of abandoned machinery. The Red dominance (46%) and Red-Orange (29%) are there, but they are dull, polluted by the Blue-Green (14%) of cold technology and diesel skies.
